ARMS is managed by an experienced occupational therapist (Mike) who ensures that the most appropriate therapist is allocated to the individual being supported. Our specialists start with assessment of the needs of the individual to develop a complete picture of the requirements of that person.
This includes careful management of expectations for all parties involved. This approach allows for a holistic view to be taken, taking into account the person and the impact that recommended therapy will have on them and their loved ones.
We know from personal experience how difficult it can be to get the most appropriate support services if you are disabled or neurodiverse. Supporting people with disabilities can be complex with legal frameworks that need to be adhered to, but there also needs to be a true understanding of the condition or circumstances of the individual being supported.
Our specialists are experts in providing advocacy services to help resolve conflict and support positive outcomes. This is done by providing impartial advice and guidance, working with all involved to achieve a positive outcome.
When legal action is taken about a disagreement, an expert’s opinion is often sought. Mike has many years of experience in providing his expert advice through an evidence-based approach to provide independent and unbiased opinion.
Our ethos is to work in partnership
We are a small, family run business that provides high quality training and support to neurodiverse people, disabled people and the teams that support them (both formal and informal). As part of these teams, we include family, charitable/voluntary organisations and paid professionals from health, social care and the education sectors.
Sometimes innovative solutions are required to solve complex situations and we use a pragmatic approach incorporating dynamic risk assessments alongside the wishes of the disabled or neurodiverse person. We work holistically and provide training that is designed to stand up to the keenest of legal challenges whilst supporting evidence-based practice. Details of our training courses are described later in this leaflet along with feedback and testimonials.
Alongside the training, we offer advocacy services, therapy assessments and interventions, expert witness reports and talks and contributions to a range of events including The National Back Exchange, NAIDEX and Disability Expo.
Supporting this family-based business are a range of hand-picked professionals, especially selected for their expertise and their approach to those that we support. All of our clients are known personally to Mike who retains ultimate accountability.
